In 2008, just weeks before the Olympic Trials, swimmer Eric Shanteau was diagnosed with cancer. Facing a tough decision, Eric decided to forego treatment in order to compete for his dream of representing his country at the Beijing Olympics. At the trials, Eric qualified for the US team in the 200 Breastroke and in Beijing posted his personal best time. Upon returning from Beijing, Eric began fighting his toughest battle - cancer - a battle he would win. Eric is now in remission, active in cancer awareness and training hard for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
